Requirements

The Goethe-Institut examinations are available to all interested parties and can be taken regardless of your age or nationality.

An age of 18 years or over is recommended for the Große Deutsche Sprachdiplom.

The Große Deutsche Sprachdiplom exceeds the sixth and highest level (C2) on the scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Teaching units

In order to achieve this level of competence, you will need at least 1,200 45-minute teaching units, depending on your previous knowledge and learning requirements.

Preparation

If you think that you meet the language requirements, then you can enrol for an exam at any time. We recommend that you participate in one of our preparatory courses, however. During these courses, you will be taught language and examination-specific skills that will make it as easy as possible for you to pass the exam.
