“To create and foster a spirit of UNDERSTANDING among the peoples of the world.”
Lions Clubs International
The Peace Poster Contest was created in 1988 to give young people the opportunity to creatively express their feelings for world peace and to share their visions with the world.
Each year local Lions Clubs proudly sponsor an International Peace Poster Contest in local schools, youth groups and scout troops in order to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere, and approximately 350,000 children, ages 11-13, from more than 65 countries participate in the contest annually.
Participants use a variety of mediums—charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint—to express a new theme developed each year to spark their imagination. The works created are unique and express the young artists’ life experiences and culture.
