European Poetry in Motion® was a project of the Cultural Counselors Roundtable of the member states of the European Union in Washington, DC and their local supporters. For one month, 136 poems - selected poems from each of the twenty-seven member states of the European Union - were exhibited on posters in Washington, DC area public buses in their original language and an English translation. Additional information about the project was displayed in metrorail stations.

This project was made possible by the kind support of the European Commission, the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMATA), the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (an agency supported in part by National Endowment for the Arts), Alexandria, Arlington and Prince George’s County Arts Councils and the Poetry Society of America. Poetry in Motion is a registered trademark of the Poetry Society of America.
