The Brothers Grimm

Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Karl Grimm (1786-1859), linguists and collectors of German folk tales, are best known for their collection of “Kinder und Hausmärchen” (Grimm’s Tales for Young and Old) which have been translated into more than 140 languages. But they also belong to the founders of German Philology with the publications of “History of German Language” and a German Dictionary. (list compiled May 2008)
