Duration: 70 min.

Koko Doko, which in Japanese means ‘Where is here ?’, is a dance installation which was created by the group Ludica, from Germany, and Kubilai Khan Investigations, from France. This colourful multimedia performance, with its use of film projection and dance, reflects on time, space and movement, and how space is constantly transforming. The group Ludica was formed in 2001 by the Italian choreographer Morgan Nardi and the Japanese media artist Naoko Tanaka, both now based in Germany, who have garnered praise and prizes for their collaborations.

“Five performers play with white curtains on a neutrally designed stage – an ideal projection surface for the dancer Ikue Nakagawa and Frank Micheletti (Kubilai Khan Investigations). While Nardi and Tanaka operate the beamer and lights, Miguel Constantino accompanies the dance installation sensitively with guitar and special effects, from gentle to aggressive arrangements (…) It’s a lot of fun to follow the dense associative, and non narrative, counter thoughts. The excitingly directed theme of light and shadows ends with the use of a small lamp which illuminates Nakagawa’s heart, before the public and artists, surrounded by woods, find each other again. A beautiful image – after so many others.”
