In December 2007 the Goethe-Institut Montreal in collaboration with Ginette Lauren’s company, O Vertigo, established a residency programme that will allow German and Canadian choreographers to create a piece inspired by the dance environment of the host country. After a last phase of work in the country of origin of the choreographer, the piece will be presented in the host country.

The German choreographer, Antje Pfundtner was the first participant in this residency programme. With the collaboration of two dancers, she created in the fall of 2007 the piece Res(e)t. “It will deal with the use of what remains, of the way to reorganize them, to reset them. In earlier times, the work of collecting and sorting discarded objects was done by gleaners and shopkeepers. Today it is done by recycling specialists. In this project, I will be the recycling specialist, a gleaner who will assemble and reorganize the remains of choreographies already in existence. To do this, I will ask various choreographers to give me the ‘remains’ of their work. I will then imagine a ‘system of collecting and re-using’ which will sort and connect the remains I have found. “(Antje Pfundtner)

The Goethe-Institut wishes to thank O Vertigo and Diane Boucher for their support.

Antje Pfundtner worked in Montreal from December 3. to 14. 2007
Res(e)t premiered on April 23, 2008, at Kampnagel Hamburg.
