Mahesh Shantaram (b. 1977, Bangalore) earned his diploma in photography avec mention from the Spéos Institute, Paris. He currently lives and practices as an independent photographer in Bangalore.
Seven years into a career in technology media and publishing, Mahesh was last seen slaving away as a tech research analyst from within a cubicle in Washington, DC. Enamoured by the rising currency of being Indian, he returned to India in 2006 to partake in these exciting times.
Adopting a contemporary style of art-meets-documentary photography, Mahesh pursues self-assigned ideas that explore urbanity and its consequences, with a special focus on the phenomenon that is Bangalore. His keen interest in aspects of society, economics, and technology where it concerns digital photography leads him to take the debate forward in those areas through activities such as writing, researching, and mentorship.
