Sohail Abdullah's work is a continuing pursuit of the tactile. Be it in his made-to-be-handled ceramic sculptures that use texture, temperature and sound, or his photographic work, which, prior to this project, aspired towards insulating the experience of looking at something from the reality of its content. Coming from a science education background, he graduated from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2006 as a student of Fine Art Sculpture. He learned photography as a minor subject where he explored black and white darkroom and alternate printing processes.
Sohail Abdullah was born in Karachi in 1984 where he currently lives. He works as an assistant art teacher at an Overseas School and as an apprentice to Ms. Naiza H. Khan. (do you want to say what naiza is? Like a sculptor or a painter or a photographer ) He also takes keen interest in Sub Continental classical performing arts, indigenous craft, horticulture and travel. This is his first venture with a digital camera.
