Vivek M

born 20th October 1978.
Education: MBBS
I quit medical practice as a surgical resident at a corporate hospital in Bangalore to follow my passion of 7 years: photography, in 2004. Having left a ‘noble’ profession I was equally inclined to make my photography contribute to my society just as my active medical practice would have done.
I have worked on photo essay on diseases such as ‘multiple sclerosis’, worked on the lives of scavengers and am currently also doing a story on the quarry workers. Human bonding and relationships in a myriad of situations and contexts is the main focus in my current work.
I work with the Housecalls magazine as a contributing photographer where I portray doctors and social workers who contribute to the society. I also write and photograph for the Outlook Traveller Guides.
A series of my photographs about a destitute shelter have been selected to be displayed as a slideshow at the Angkor Photo Festival at Cambodia this November.
