Viktualienmarkt
nothing you can’t
find here tender veggies
green sparrowgrass from albania
you can deflower in the bogs
behind the meat stands
salsify to satisfy
horse-butchers running
pink hands through
their sweaty manes football
fans offering their running
commentary sucking on veal
sausages leather gays snuggling
bouquets of st. valentine’s
roses in their arms
a politician having his picture
taken with a stray dachshund
exportmuller where the locals
complain about the effing
prussians neaps not turnips
market women laying their
melons on the scales
cheesy faces under a sky
of bavarian blue in front of
a nordsee that knows no ebb
only pickled herrings lying under
the tables like so many drunks
& in the holy ghost pub
they’re making converts
to catholicism but what do
the rats care they nibble
at their subterranean raisins
and won’t let their lederhosen
be peeled off them not by
any hound dog
