Africa-Europe Partnerships For Culture

The Africa-Europe Partnerships For Culture is a €30 million EU-funded programme implemented by Goethe-Institut, Expertise France, Institut Français, UNESCO and EUNIC Global. Through three distinct components serving the complete arts and culture ecosystem, AEPC reshapes cultural cooperation, exchange, co-creation and dissemination within Africa and between Africa and Europe whilst promoting intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding.

Developed with artists and cultural professionals from Sub-Saharan Africa, the programme ensures African voices remain central throughout implementation.

AEPC Programs

Sub-Saharan Africa

The Sub-Saharan Africa Continental Componentrepresents a fundamental reimagining of how cultural cooperation works between Africa and Europe. Rather than traditional top-down funding models, we've built a comprehensive ecosystem that prioritises connection, creation, and genuine partnership across artistic disciplines and geographical boundaries.

Southern Africa

The Southern Africa Component pioneers a revolutionary approach to cultural heritage that moves far beyond preservation toward active, contemporary engagement. By connecting heritage organisations with interdisciplinary artist groups, we're creating new models for how cultural sites and practices speak to modern audiences and contribute to intercultural dialogue.

West Africa

The West Africa Componentbreaks new ground by recognising festivals as the backbone of West African cultural life and investing in their collective power to transform regional and international cultural cooperation. Rather than supporting individual events, we're building transnational networks that fundamentally alter how West African cultural content reaches audiences and how cultural professionals develop international careers.
