For Joachim Klöckner from Berlin, the Chernobyl catastrophe was a wake-up call to change his life. For two decades afterwards, he worked in the field of energy optimization for companies and began to pare down his belongings – what he experiences as a sustainable, very beneficial and liberating lifestyle that he calls “Die Leichtigkeit des Meins” (The Lightness of Having). Moving with hand luggage only and sharing and swapping things if necessary, he became a role model for many people without feeling the need to proselytize. He offers conversations and workshops on the topic of “Feeling Good with Things.”
