ANDREAS PETTENKOFER
Andreas Pettenkofer studied sociology, philosophy and law at the Free University of Berlin and at the EHESS in Paris. He earned his doctorate at the Max Weber Centre (Erfurt) and was a research associate at the University of Göttingen from 2003 to 2006 and at the University of Hagen from 2007 to 2008. Pettenkofer has been working at the Max Weber Centre since 2009, where he qualified as university professor with Das Verstehen der Situation. Gewalt, Affekte und die Probleme einer hermeneutischen Soziologie (Understanding the situation. Violence, emotions and the problems of hermeneutic sociology). Pettenkofer currently co-leads a project group focussed on the local politicization of global standards at the Max Weber Centre and is substitute professor of cultural sociology and sociology of knowledge at the TU Darmstadt.
