The conference will present different perspectives on how the First World War - arguably the principal war with global repercussions - is perceived. Historians and experts from three different countries will discuss the war’s relevance to African countries, elaborating as well on lesser known aspects, for instance the consequences of the visual and acoustic dimension of the war on literature.

Speakers are: Dr. Jörg Theis (Germany), Edward Emeka Keazor (Nigeria) and Marcus Boni Teiga (Benin Republic).

The event is co-organized by the Consulate General of France and Germany, in cooperation with Goethe-Institut Nigeria and Alliance Française Nigeria.
