DaF - a német mint idegen nyelv

What’s the best way for me to learn German? And how should I teach it? What innovative methods and training options are available? And: what is the difference between “German” as a school subject and “German as a foreign language”?

German as a foreign language (Deutsch als Fremdsprache / DaF) has many forms, possibilities and service options. Comparatively new – German as a foreign language was only established as an independent subject in the 1970’s – its points of concentration branch out in three different directions: German area studies, cultural sciences, and methodological-didactic concepts. The goals and contents of DaF courses of study in turn depend on these respective directions, and also on learning options and strategies.

The dossier DaF is devoted to this and other topics relevant to German as a foreign language. Here, we will keep you informed about current developments, fundamentals and helpful tips for learning German, teaching German and for the DaF qualification course.
