In a traditional café in the heart of Bratislava a Multilingual Language Café will be held on the first Wednesday of every month: anyone interested can sit down at the German, French, Italian, English, Portuguese, Spanish, Hungarian – or also Slovakian table and chat away in their mother tongue and/or one of their favourite foreign languages.

Alongside the Goethe-Institut the co-organisers are: the Institut Français, the Österreich Institut, the British Council, the Instituto Cervantes, the Istituto di Cultura Italiana, the Bulgarian Cultural Institute, the Hungarian Cultural Institute, the Instytut Polski and the Cultural Department of the Portuguese Embassy.

The Goethe-Institut in Bratislava has for a number of years organised an annual "Street of Languages" in the centre of Bratislava in collaboration with other local cultural institutes. There was a multilingual stage with a varied programme of speech and music, an international short film loop, an exhibition of posters on 26.9. and numerous activities for school students.

26 September 2008 was the occasion for establishing a Multilingual Language Café.

The Language Café will be held on the first Wednesday of every month from 17:30 to 19:00 h in the
