European Youth Theatre Festival of Languages – Language on Stage! Lingue in scena! (Italy)

Language on Stage! was aimed at young people in Turin, Italy and all of Europe. The aim of the festival was to attract participants to the world of theatre through the artistic and practical work of an actor, or as a member of the audience, while at the same time developing an appreciation and respect for other cultures. The aim of this artistic concept is to demonstrate the rich abundance of languages and cultures in the countries of Europe.

From 11 to 15 May 2009, young Europeans from Bulgaria, France, Germany, Portugal, Serbia and Turkey together with young people from Switzerland and Italy took part in a unique artistic and cultural experience: they rehearsed in multilingual theatre groups, took part in workshops on the boundary between theatre and fine arts and enacted their plays not only in their mother tongues, but also in foreign languages. At the same time they approached great world literature by creating a multilingual production together based on extracts from Faust by J. W. von Goethe.

Lingue in scena!, now in its ninth year, is supported in an exemplary way by various institutions that work together in close cooperation.

The entire festival programme is available as a PDF.
