Last Robots (Poland):
"Goethe for Electronic Music Fans“

We started our work on the remix by remembering Goethe's works and an examination of the text, which in our opinion plays a pivotal role in this project. The careful reading and analysis of the poem allowed us to separate the text into sections. We then integrated them into our remix as a first step, deliberately accentuating particularly significant sections of the text.

The musical interpretation of the poem offered by Emil Klotzsch felt very sad to us, so we decided to "lighten it up" a bit. At least Goethe's text itself isn't that sad …

In our version, we use a number of fantastic fragments from the original recordings, but we changed the rhythmic structure of the beginning. However, we only did this in order to come back to the original tempo at the climax and to emphasise the original's atmosphere. For us, the sound and the achievements of the breakthrough in the 1980s and 1990s were an inspiration, especially the "Madchester" scene.

We hope that we have managed to find a balance between the dance character of the work and the lyric nostalgia of Goethe's piece.

Last Robots, in private life Igor and Bert, are a well-known duo from Warsaw that has performed together since 2005. They have appeared at many important festivals such as Opener, Coke Live or Audioriver and are the creators of the famous cycle "Electricity!". They are the authors of remixes for famous Polish groups such as D4D, Plastic, Kamp!, Fox, Out Of Tune or Novika. You can also listen to them on the Polish airwaves – Igor manages the programme "Last Robots Alive" on Radio Roxy, Bert the „Kluboteka“ on Polish Radio Czworka.
