Bild MedienGoethe-Institut and its partners in Australia, as well as various organisations in Germany regularly offer competitions for students, teachers and other target groups. You can win attractive prizes, occasionally even cash prizes or scholarships to Germany. It is always worthwhile to keep an eye on this page!

    Annual School Film Festival

    Bild MedienBild MedienThis competition invites students and school classes to produce a short film on a given topic in any format. There are three categories, with three prizes awarded in each category. Information is usually published in March each year, entries close in the third week of September.

      Goethe-Institut / AGTV Year 10 Award

      Bild MedienThe Goethe-Institut, in collaboration with the German Teachers’ Association AGTV offers this competition in March each year. This is a fantastic opportunity for all students of German in Year 10 to win a scholarship to Germany to attend the three-week Goethe-Institut winter holiday course in Germany! The awards are presented on the main stage at Federation Square at the 'German Day Out' on 29 July 2010. The Deadline for applications is 14 May 2010.

        Scholarships for School Students

        Bild MedienEach year, the Goethe-Institut awards 5 scholarships for students of German in the upper middle years to participate in a 3-week winter holiday course in January in Germany. This program is generously supported by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Canberra.
        In addition, the German Pedagogical Exchange Service provides 5 scholarships for a 4-week study tour to Germany in July, also for students in the upper middle years.
        Information, application and selection process is carried out in cooperation with the respective German Teachers’ Association or Network in each state.

          Goethe Competition in Tasmania

          Bild MedienThe German Language Network Tasmania South conducts the annual Goethe Competition. For students in secondary schools this consists of poetry recital, reading comprehension and listening comprehension, while primary students in Years 5 and 6 submit a poster. There are always lovely prizes from Germany to be won.

            Bild MedienThis is this year’s prize question asked by the Young Academy.
