From the first “Allo”, three and a half years ago, I have found everyone at the Goethe-Institut in Melbourne to be friendly, professional and helpful. Having had previous experience with studying foreign languages, namely Italian and French, I chose to approach only the Goethe-Institut when I decided to learn German because I believed that an “official” organization would offer me a better quality of teaching. I have not been disappointed.

Upon arriving for the first time I was pleasantly surprised to find a very modern, spacious and well equipped environment in which to learn German. The location of the Institute is also a positive since it is easily reached by public transport and is in close proximity to the city centre.

All the teachers are native speaking Germans who are also fluent in English and retain close ties to Germany. Their knowledge not only of the language itself but also of the current politics, culture and general lifestyle of the country make their classes very enjoyable and informative.

The programme of language courses and activities offered is extremely comprehensive, catering for beginners through to advanced students. The extra curricular events such as the conversation and film evenings and the intensive summer school all contribute to the excellent package available at the Institute.

If you are thinking of embarking on the very interesting and rewarding experience of learning German, I cannot recommend the Goethe Institute highly enough and I am sure that you will not be disappointed.

Viel Spass.
