| 1834– 1843 | pastor at the parish of Cleversulzbach where he lives with his mother and sister Klärchen; retires with 39 due to ill health |
| 1844 | moves to Mergentheim with sister Klärchen: freed from responsibility he publishes poetry including "Die Idylle vom Bodensee" |
| 1851-1860 | marries Margarethe von Speeth; teaches literature in Stuttgart and Lorch: recieves a honorary doctorate from the University of Tübingen; publishes "Das Stuttgarter Hutzlemännlein" and "Mozarts Reise nach Prag" |
| 1867 | publishes fourth edition of "Collected Verse", continues to live in Stuttgart; numerous visits to relatives and friends, travles extensively in Upper Swabia and the area of Lake of Constance |
