Biography

  born 8 September 1804 in Ludwigsburg
died 4 June 1875 in Stuttgart  
 

1822– 1826 studied Theology at the Seminary in Tübingen
1826- 1834 Lutheran pastor in eleven different parishes: publishes his first poems and the novel "Maler Nolte"
1834– 1843 pastor at the parish of Cleversulzbach where he lives with his mother and sister Klärchen; retires with 39 due to ill health 
1844 moves to Mergentheim with sister Klärchen: freed from responsibility he publishes poetry including "Die Idylle vom Bodensee"
1851-1860 marries Margarethe von Speeth; teaches literature in Stuttgart and Lorch: recieves a honorary doctorate from the University of Tübingen; publishes "Das Stuttgarter Hutzlemännlein" and "Mozarts Reise nach Prag"
1867 publishes fourth edition of "Collected Verse", continues to live in Stuttgart; numerous visits to relatives and friends, travles extensively in Upper Swabia and the area of Lake of Constance
