1980/1981   completes a special course at the Johannes R. Becher Institute for German Literature in Leipzig 
1982 - 1985  works banned from publication in the GDR 
1982 - 1987   editor of the literary journal "Mikado"; works as a translator
1987 emigrates to the Federal Republic of Germany 
1989 guest lectureship in Austin/Texas   
1992 scholarship from Villa Massimo in Rome  
1993 Friedrich Hölderlin Prize
1997 -
2003
director of the Studio of Literature and Theatre at Tübingen University

writer-in-residence in the city of Rheinsberg
