Melkamu Alemu, Tour Guide
My country is economically poor, but very rich in culture, nature and history. Tourism is the right path towards improvement of the economic situation of my country. Many Germans want to visit my country. That’s why I am learning German: to accompany German guests.

I am taking a German course so that I can study in Germany. I would like to translate works of art from German into Amharic and from Amharic into German.

Debrework Mulugeta, Program Officer
I took the initiative to learn German because I always think my German colleagues are talking about me when they speak in German. As I am working for a German company, my work and my life have become far more pleasant since I started learning German at the Goethe-Institut in Addis Abeba.

Rossella Morselli, Teacher
I am an Italian living in Addis Abeba. 30 years ago I studied German for three years at an Italian school. But after that, I did not have the opportunity to speak German, or to use the language for many years. So I decided in 2005 to enrol in a German course at the Goethe-Institut. I love the classes and find them interesting. I also like to attend concerts and forums at the Goethe-Institut. In summer I would like to fly to Germany for my holidays. That is the main reason why I am learning German.
