Once upon a time there was a young student seeking peace and quiet. He ventured deep into a snow-covered forest and took up lodgings in the basement of a very strange house. So begins a twisted fairy-tale in which nothing and no-one can be taken at face value. The unnamed students landlords are an odd, unnamed couple with an 8-year-old son named Klaus. Trouble is, Klaus is actually a 30-year-old simpleton who believes he’s going to be President of the United States one day. Compelled by bizarre forces to remain in the house the student becomes Klaus’ home tutor. That’s only the beginning to this giddy mix of melodrama, psychodrama, sci-fi and black comedy. Take a walk on the cinematic wild side with this delightfully twisted fairy-tale. FESTIVALS: Berlinale 2015
