Closeted schoolteacher Phillip experiences a life-changing moment when he meets Matthias at a bar one night. Conflicted by his strong feelings towards this new lover and his responsibility towards his pregnant partner Tanja, Phillip feels more and more isolated and eventually plunges into a severe crisis. As the only film produced in East Germany to deal with the topic of homosexuality and depicting punk culture, director Heiner Carow’s drama highlights the reality and social prejudices faced by this community. The film premiered on November 9, 1989 but it was stopped in the middle because that was the night of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
