Ines, a career-driven corporate strategist living in Bucharest, is content with her structured lifestyle, framed with long conferences and performance reports. But all of this is about to change when Winfried, Ines' 65-year-old dad, decides to pay her a surprise visit. After only a few short days, Ines finds herself already overburdened by her father's practical jokes and eccentric character. Having hit gridlock after unsuccessfully attempting to bond, Winfried agrees to return to Germany. Enter Toni Erdmann, Winfried's alter ego and secret weapon to reconnect with his daughter. Toni wears a wig, fake teeth and a seriously tacky suit. He is bold, boisterous and has an even more extreme sense of humour than Winfried.

Following the success of her first two films The Forest for the Trees (2003) and Everyone Else (2009), director Maren Ade's unique, insightful and delightfully funny style is brought back onto centre-stage with this internationally celebrated comedy, her latest feature.

QUOTES FROM CRITICS:
"The charm and genius of this film is in what you don't see coming. It would be easy to pigeonhole this as just one of the greatest German film comedies, but it's more than that." Sight and Sound
