Nowitzki: The Perfect Shot is a documentary about the life of German NBA superstar Dirk Nowitzki. The film tells the story of the unique relationship between Nowitzki and his coach and mentor Holger Geschwinder, detailing Nowitzki's journey as a skinny teenager out of his depth to one of the greatest stars, playing in what the pair had only dreamt of: the NBA Championship. The Perfect Shot is about success and failure, and follows Nowitzki through these moments on his way to becoming the first non-American to lead his team to an NBA victory. Alongside exclusive and original footage, the film features interviews with Nowitzki, his family, friends, teammates and sponsors, with particularly notable appearances by Kobe Bryant and former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt.
Known for his historical television documentaries, director Sebastian Dehnhardt presents his second documentary film about the rise to success of sport professionals with this film, following his well-received Klitschko (2011).
