Everything Will Be Alright
Alles wird gut
This remarkable documentary goes backstage with a group of mentally
and physically disabled performers as they collaborate on a unique
theatre production. Directed by Niko von Glasow, who was born severely
malformed by the disastrous side-effects of Thalidomide in 1960,
Everything Will Be Alright combines intimate stories from cast members’
lives with confronting scenes from their work-in-progress about disabled
hopefuls auditioning for a TV talent show. Life imitates art and art imitates
life in this frequently confronting and often very funny alternate take
on the old showbiz story of ‘let’s all get together and put on a show’…
and what a show this turns out to be.
Niko von Glasow was born in Cologne in 1960 and studied drama coaching and film directing at New York University. At the Film Academy of Lódz in Poland he made his first feature film Wedding Guests (1991), which won several awards. His films include Marie's Song (1994), Wintersleeper (1997), Edelweiss Pirates (2004) and Nobody's Perfect (2008).
