East Berliners Hans and Katharina are visiting friends in Western Berlin when the news spread that the Communists have completely sealed the border to the West. Hans used to smuggle copper over the border. He is afraid of the Secret Police. Therefore they cannot return to their 14-year-old son Paul and are utterly helpless to do anything. It´s completely up to Paul to find a way to his parents into the West.
