Foreign Language Assistant Program

12 positions are available In 2009/2010. The stipend has just been raised to Euro 800. - a month and includes health, accident and public liability insurance. In addition and as of 2009, all assistants will receive a one-off travel grant of Euro 1 000.-.

The assistants commence their stay in Germany with an introductory seminar in August/September, and finish on 31 May of the following year.

Their task is to assist the English teacher at a German secondary school to improve students‘ conversation and pronunciation skills, and to increase students‘ knowledge of Australian everyday life, culture, literature and current issues. This work involves approx. 12 hours per week, plus lesson preparation time.

Applicants must have completed a tertiary degree (BA or similar) and must have a very good knowledge of German. They must be under the age of 29, be in good health and independent.

This is an excellent opportunity to spend an extended period of time in Germany and perhaps even study a semester at a German university.
