The Friends of the Goethe Society supports the public mission of the Goethe-Institut Montréal in one of the most dynamic economic zones of North-America, namely to promote awareness of contemporary Germany in a new Europe, and to strengthen the network for a transatlantic cultural exchange with its Canadian cultural partners. In addition, the Friends of the Goethe Society supports cultural events which are sponsored by the Goethe-Institut Montréal and its local partners.
The Friends of the Goethe Society has the following goals:
• to have a lasting effect on the cultural landscape of Montreal
• to facilitate the presentation of cultural highlights from the fields of film, dance, theatre, visual arts and literature
• to foster the proliferation of the German language
• to promote young Canadian and German artists through Artists-in-Residence programs
