Another Africa: Canadian Stage 2011-2012 season to bring back The Africa Trilogy -- two-thirds of it, anyway
Ort: Toronto
Ereignis: Canadian Stage zeigt in ihrer Saison 2011/12 mit dem Volcano Theatre „Another Africa”, inklusive des vom Goethe-Institut unterstützten Theaterstücks von Roland Schimmelpfennig.
[…] Canadian Stage will partner with Volcano Theatre Company to produce Another Africa next season, I've heard. What's that? Well, it's a cut-down version of Volcano's The Africa Trilogy, which premiered to great acclaim at last year's Luminato Festival.
[…] The weakest show of the trilogy has been cut, leaving two plays: Peggy Pickit Sees the Face of God by German playwright Roland Schimmelpfennig and Shine Your Eye by Kenyan playwright Binyavanga Wainaina. These two plays will again be directed by South Africa's Liesl Tommy and Volcano artistic director Ross Manson. Some of the original cast will be coming back, perhaps all.
That's wonderful news. Peggy Pickit Sees the Face of God, in particular, was one of the theatrical highlights of 2010. This has certainly whet my appetite to find out the rest of Jocelyn's plans on Wednesday. [...]
