KINO/13 – recent German film productions will take place from 24 Oct to 4 Nov this year. 13 German films will be shown at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, the Hong Kong Science Museum, AMC Pacific Place, and the University of Hong Kong, with the aim of reflecting the current film trend in Germany.

We have chosen Jan Ole Gerster's Oh Boy as the opening film of the year. As a graduation film project by the young director Jan Ole Gerster, Oh Boy has become the biggest surprise in Germany in 2012, winning numerous film awards including best director, best screenplay, best feature film and best actor.

A special Director in Focus section will feature the renowned German director, Margarethe von Trotta, who is regarded as one of the most important female directors in Europe. Her latest film Hannah Arendt, together with three of her previous films will be shown during KINO/13.

This year we have initiated a new collaboration with the German Association of the University of Hong Kong. Five free screenings will be organised at the campus of the University. Stay tuned for more information!
