Artist Residencies of the Goethe-Institut Prague

The Goethe-Institut established its „Artists in Residence“-program three years ago. Since 2009, selected German artists are invited to spend a few months in Prague. Their stay in the Czech Republic contributes to the co-operation between the German and Czech art scene and helps artists from both countries find new, innovative ideas. The program’s emphasis is on the visual arts. Among others, Philip Topolovac, Danielle de Picciotto, Alexander Hacke, Sabine Richter, Sehnaz Seker and Andrew Gilbert have spent time in Prague.

In 2012, we were pleased to welcome again a number of artists in Prague. Among our guests were Katharina Fricke, Marcel Mieth and Alexej Meschtschanow.

On November 29th, Alexej Meschtschanow will present his work in an exhibition called "Dead Painters Studios" together with the dutch artist-in-residence Marc Philip van Kempen in the Kostka Gallery of the MeetFactory.

Every year the Goethe-Institut Prag invites several artists to the Czech Republic as Artists in Residence. In this new cultural environment the artists experience stimuli for new pieces of art and international networking, as well as evolving projects. This intercultural dialogue within contemporary art leads to enrichment for both the German artists concerned and the Czech art and culture scene.

Meet the Artists presents Artist Residencies and introduces artists and their work. The schedule you updated on current events, and in the blog the artists themselves invite you to communicate with them. So come and Meet the Artists.
