Between January and March 2010 Manon Awst and Benjamin Walther were, at the invitation of the Goethe-Institut Prag and the MeetFactory, Artists in Residence in the Czech capital.
Disruptions and the unsteadiness within the social structure and Prague’s urban space is what Awst and Walther processed during their residency, particularly in the form of sculptures and installations. “Disruptions within social space are a steady topic of our work,” explains Benjamin Walther in an interview with the Goethe-Institut Prague on the parallels between the city and their artwork produced there. The German-Welsh couple prefers to make use of organic and industrial materials.
On April 2nd a vernissage was held at the MeetFactory gallery, where their residency took place, showcasing the works created during their stay in Prague. Here you can find an interview with the artists. After three months of residency in Prague, Manon Awst and Benjamin Walther talk about their impressions and experiences shortly before the exhibition-opening.
