Jakob Racek / Goethe-Institut Czech Republic
Jakob Racek (* 1981) is Program Director for Central and Eastern Europe at the Goethe-Institut in Prague. He obtained an MA in Media Theory and Cultural Studies at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Germany. He has worked as a curator and cultural manager for several German and international galleries and institutions, such as the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Center for Contemporary Art in Plovdiv – Bulgaria.
Ralf Eppeneder / Projekt Werkstatt Worpswede, Germany
Ralf Eppeneder studied Philosophy, Linguistics and Political Science in Munich and Tübingen and joined the Goethe-Institut more than thirty years ago. During this time he held several positions in the Head Office Munich and was director of the Goethe-Institutes in Lima, Melbourne, Saint Petersburg and Tallinn. Now he runs his own agency Projekt Werkstatt Worpswede.
Mikko Fritze / Goethe-Institut Finland
Since 2010 Mikko Fritze is the director of the Goethe-Institut Finland. Before he was head of the foundation Tallinn 2011 – Capital of Culture. He studied Biology and German in Hamburg and is working for the Goethe-Institut in Estonia, Uruguay and Finland since 1993.
Dr. Eva Marquardt / Goethe-Institut Estonia
Since 2013 Eva Marquardt is the director of the Goethe-Institut Estonia. Before she was in New York the director of the language department and responsible for North America. Furthermore she held positions in the Head Office Munich and the Goethe-Institut Rom. She studied German and politics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and earned a doctorate with a dissertation about Thomas Bernhard in 1990. She actively participates in symposiums with presentations and publications. From 1984 until 1986 she was a DAAD lecturer at the University of Sussex in Great Britain.
Ragnar Siil / Undersecretary of Fine Arts, Tallinn
Ragnar Siil is a founder and managing partner of Creativity Lab - Estonian creative economy think tank and consultancy group. He is an expert in cultural policies and creative industries development strategies. He worked at the Estonian Ministry of Culture from 2005 and from 2011 until 2013 as Undersecretary of State for the Arts. Ragnar Siil has been a member of the European Union expert group on cultural and creative sectors (open method of coordination working group) since 2008 and from 2011 he has been chairing the expert group. Ragnar is also a member of the European Creative Industries Alliance’s Policy Learning Platform and has advised several candidate cities for the European Capital of Culture title.
Harm Wurthmann / Federal Competence Center for Cultural and Creative Industries Bremen, Germany
Harm Wurthmann is Executive Director of the operational RKW companies in northern Germany and a member of the board of RKW e.V. After his training and subsequent employment in the retail sector, he studied economics with an emphasis on political economy at the University of Bremen. Throughout his long career with RKW, he has focused on business development for small and medium enterprises with a particular emphasis on networking for small businesses.
Christian Rost / Federal Competence Center for Cultural and Creative Industries Berlin, Germany
Christian Rost studied human and physical geography with references to urban and regional development / urban ecology. He works as a moderator in a district of Leipzig and in neighborhood management there as well; he also volunteers for a socio-cultural center in his home city. Mr. Rost is an expert in the music and fashion industries.
Enzio Wetzel / Goethe-Institut, Munich
Enzio Wetzel majored in Philology of the Christian Orient, Jewish Studies and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Munich and completed training as a moderator and facilitator. From 2000 until 2005 he was director of cultural program work at the Goethe-Institut Cairo. On his return to Germany, Wetzel was responsible for the Science and Current Affairs Division, following which he worked on the overall strategy of the Goethe-Institut in the Strategy and Evaluation Department. Since October 2011, he has been the director of the newly established Culture and Development Division.
Eva Leemet / Creative Estonia, Tallinn
Eva Leemet is the CEO of Creative Estonia, promoting creative entrepreneurship in all fields of creative economy in Estonia. Eva has MBA and is a qualified consultant in creative entrepreneurship. Taken part in CI sector development since 2001, she is globally making contacts and gathering experience across the sector to help creative businesses grow and find export channels.
Sibylle Kurz / Germany
Sibylle Kurz specializes in pitching training, project presentation, proposal development and dramaturgical doctoring. She also offers communication skills, negotiation training and personal coaching for companies and individuals. With an academic background in media & communication science, sociology and psychology; she has a postgraduate education as a communication skills trainer and is a certified NLP Trainer (INLPT Associational standards). She works as a pitching trainer and consultant for film schools and film institutions all over Europe. Her experience in “The Art Of Pitching“ is a result of more than 15 years experience in the acquisition, distribution and co-production of theatrical, video, and TV films in the German-speaking market at a distribution company that she co-founded in 1981. Christoph Brosius / The Game Thinking agency “Die Hobrechts” Berlin, Germany
Tetris, Zelda or "The Adventures of Super Mario" – an entire generation in the 1990s was unable to tear itself away from the Gameboy. It's just too much fun! For the founders of Die Hobrechts agency, the fun factor is key. As an agency for Game Design and Game Thinking, they are involved in digital and analogue games and also apply their game development expertise toward non-game products and services. For example, they produced the interactive short film “3 REGELN” (3 rules): As in a computer game where the action depends on the player’s input, here the viewer can influence the course of the film with a click of the mouse. The main point of the Game Thinking approach is to intensify the user experience. Just like with Gameboy – the customer should be able to cheer on the hero.
Sina Greinert / Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, Germany
Sina Greinert is the head of NORDSTARTER, which is a public owned crowdfunding platform for Hamburg. Established by the City of Hamburg in autumn 2011 it is the first regional crowdfunding platform worldwide. On behalf of Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, in order to draw attention to innovative projects in the creative industries, Sina Greinert operates the platform. She offers a wide range of service to clients: Consultancy, crowdfunding workshops, crowdfunding events, promotions and special events in cooperation with other public and private institutions in Hamburg . At Kreativ Gesellschaft she also serves as contact person for students who aim to pursue their career within the creative industries. Therefore she teaches at different universities in Hamburg to facilitate their way into professional work life. Furthermore she forms part of the curation team of the annual conference “work in progress” which reflects the current debates about the future of work.
Clas Beese / Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, Germany
Clas Beese is engaged with real estate development and various training activities at Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft. Prior to that, Clas studied Business Administration, his major being Entrepreneurship. During his studies, he entered into start-up consulting. Besides working with hundreds of self-employed and entrepreneurs (many of them from the creative industries), he loved to create innovative support measures for his clients. From his daily consulting work, he knew the trouble of raising funds too well. He developed a concept for lending-based crowdfunding aiming at SMEs. Clas changed his role from consultant to start-up founder a brought the idea to life in 2013, when launching finmar.com. Today, he splits his time between working on finmar and for Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft.
Michael is a banker by training and studied agriculture in Africa, where he lived and worked for several years. At the end of the seventies he repatriated to Germany where he took part in setting up Germany’s first private university, where he was responsible for strategic planning and fundraising for more than 20 years. In 2003 he left the university and started a professional career as consultant, coach and mediator, using his experience in crisis management. For eight years now he has worked with start-ups, coaching young entrepreneurs from the creative industries as a partner of the “uinstitut” in Bremen, Germany. In 2012 he became senior partner of a Swiss consulting company that focuses on strategic and policy consulting. Michael is a board member of a variety of organizations (companies, foundations, N.P.Os). He lives in Berlin, Germany.
Prof. Reinhard Strömer
After completing his studies in psychology with a diploma, Reinhard Strömer worked for nearly 20 years as a musician and artistic director of large cultural institutions and national and international festivals. For 10 years he has been responsible for the public funding of the cultural infrastructure of German cities and federal states. Since 2007 he has been the director of the Cultural Management master’s program at the University of Applied Sciences in Bremen. In 2011 he was appointed to a professorship. Prof. Strömer heads the Dialogic Scientific Qualification department at the International Graduate Center of the University of Applied Sciences in Bremen, offering continuing education for executive managers from the People’s Republic of China. From 2009 till today, Reinhard Strömer has shared his professional experience as a coach for start-ups in the creative industries, especially in the Germany-wide state funded program “Pilots of the Cultural and Creative Industries”.
Maike Gosch / story4good, Germany
Maike Gosch is an expert in storytelling and strategic communication. An attorney by profession, she worked for many years as counsel on German and international media and copyright law. Om 2005, after studying screenplay writing, she launched a freelance career as author, editor and dramaturge for film and TV, and wrote stories, screenplays and concepts. Since 2009 she has worked as a consultant to non-governmental organizations, foundations, social initiatives and businesses, helping them to bring across their history more clearly, powerfully and effectively, in order to awaken interest and enthusiasm for their goals. Maike Gosch teaches storytelling and creativity at the Akademie für Publizistik and the Hochschule Bremen.
Diemut Bartl / Dark Horse Innovation, Germany
Diemut Bartl studied product design and is a natural design thinker, combining design, coaching and academic training for more than four years now. Bartl developed special furniture for creative teamwork, like Dark Horse working scenarios. She loves to teach and to empower people to become experts revealing human needs.
Lisa Zoth / Dark Horse Innovation, Germany
Lisa Zoth has a master’s degree in political science and theatre studies and is a certified Design Thinker. She worked for NGOs in Bolivia and the Goethe-Institut in Egypt. In 2009 she co-founded Dark Horse Innovation, eager to discover hidden user needs and develop coherent solutions for them.
Helsinki Design Week
Founded in 2005, Helsinki Design Week is the largest design festival in the Nordic countries. Held annually in September, the multidisciplinary festival presents design from a number of fields as well as fashion, architecture and urban culture.
Tallin Black Nights Film Festival
Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, or in native Estonian – PÖFF – is one of the largest and most distinctive film events in Northern Europe and belongs to the 50 leading film festivals of the world. The festival embraces a cluster of events, accommodating three full-blown sub-festivals (Animated Dreams, Just Film, Sleepwalkers) as well as international industry events bringing together filmmakers from Americas and Eurasia.

The Federal Government launched the Cultural and Creative Industries Initiative in 2007. The central aim is to raise public awareness for the importance of the cultural and creative industries. We want to improve the future prospects of the sector by strengthening competitiveness and better utilizing and developing their potential for creating jobs.

Creative Estonia is an initiative aimed at promoting and developing the creative industry sector in Estonia. The larger aim is to present the content, unique characteristics, economic, social and regional value of creative industries and to create a platform for the discussion of creative industry problems and solutions at the highest level.
Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft
The Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft is a municipal institution founded to promote Hamburg’s creative industries. As a directly accessible contact and service facility, it is open to all creative stakeholders and enterprises. Its main task is to improve the general conditions for the creative industries in Hamburg and to act as an interface – between the different fields within the creative industries, but also to other players in business, politics and society. The aim of all our activities is the development and support of an economically sustainable basis for Hamburg’s creative stakeholders. The Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft strives to emphasize the economic relevance and future potential of this new sector by rendering it more visible to politics, media and the general public.
