Integration

Since January 1, 2005, new statutory regulations have been in effect for providing foreigners with the necessary German skills for integration. These regulations apply to foreigners staying in Germany for extended periods, i.e. for longer than one year, whose skills in German are below the B 1 level (Zertifikat Deutsch). To find out whether you are eligible or obliged to take part in an integration course, contact the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.

The Goethe-Institut sees the linguistic and social integration of foreign residents as an important policy goal. For many years it has made ongoing contributions to the achievement of this goal in the form of courses for foreign workers, teacher training, curriculum development and teaching materials. It has also conducted special courses at various locations for ethnic Germans resettling in Germany.
On behalf of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, the Goethe-Institut prepared the basic qualification concept for teachers of integration courses that has been in effect as of 2005.
The Goethe-Institut is accredited by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees to carry out the DaZTrainer Qualification Course, and offers this course several times a year in the form of compact seminars.
