Development

The Goethe-Zertifikat B1 (ZD j) was developed jointly by the Goethe-Institut (GI), the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK) represented by the University of Freiburg, the Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch (ÖSD) and telc GmbH.

Assessment

The Goethe-Zertifikat B1: Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche is conducted and assessed the same way all over the world. Each candidate’s written papers and oral performance are evaluated separately by two examiners at the examination centre in question who apply uniform criteria.

Recognition

Certificates issued by the Goethe-Institut are recognized throughout the world. In our experience, young learners are so motivated by the exams that their desire to carry on learning is increased.
