Jenny Marketou was born in Athens. She lives and works in New York City. Her work exists in the intersection of social public art, new media, video, video installation, and public actions, often exploring forms of mediatized communication and networked technologies. Marketou’s work is ephemeral but structurally repeatable and has the ability to provoke viewer participation and create interaction between context and creativity. Her work has been presented internationally and nationally at institutions such as the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens, the Chelsea Art Museum in New York, the 53. Venice Biennial, the 3. Biennial of Seville, the Kunsthalle Basel, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, The New Museum in New York, Eyebeam in New York, the Rose Museum of Contemporary Art in Boston, and the ZKM | Center for New Media and Art in Karlsruhe, among others. She has represented Greece at the Biennial of São Paolo and at the Manifesta 1 biennial at Witte de With in Rotterdam.
