Tanja Ostojić

Tanja Ostojić was born in 1972. She is an independent, interdisciplinary performance artist and cultural activist based in Berlin. She studied art in Belgrade and Nantes. Ostojić plays parts in performances and uses diverse media in her artistic projects, thereby examining social configurations and power relations. She works predominantly from the migrant woman’s perspective, while political positioning, humor, and the integration of audience members define her approach. Her work has been exhibited most recently in Esteticas Decolonilaes at the ASAB Academia Superior de Artes de Bogotá (2010), in 2009 and 2010 in Arts Homo Erotica at the National Museum in Warsaw, Gender Check at the MUMOK in Vienna, and at the Zaheta Gallery in Warsaw, in The Social Critique at the Kalmar Konstmuseum, Agents & Provocateurs at the Hartware MedienKunstVerein in Dortmund and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Dunaujvaros, and in Transitland Europe at Transmediale in Berlin and the Ludwig Museum in Budapest. Her latest solo show was held in the Kunstpavillon in Innsbruck in 2008.
