About the Filmmaker
Born in Batna, Algeria, Sabrina Draoui studied chemistry, photography and infography. She has been awarded two prizes, one of which being the prize for best artistic photography in the international competition section at Palazzo Valentini in Rome (2006). She worked as an assistant in several independent short and length films. Goulili is the title of her first short film. It was highly celebrated by both film critics and audiences, and has been officially selected in over 26 international film festivals around the world. It won various prizes including (among others) the Sab’art for the best short film in Dakkar International Short Film Festival, Senegal; the Big Prize of Plein Sud Festival, France; the Golden Ahaggar of the best short film in The Internatinal Arabe film of Oran-Algeria; the jury award and the best film on woman directed by a woman in Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentary and Short film, Egypt.
