© Firew Kebede© Fana Wogi 2013Fana Wogi ist ein jährlichrer Wettbewerb, der von der DFA (Desta for Africa Creative Consulting) in Kooperation mit dem Goethe-Institut Addis Abeba organisiert wird. Jedes Jahr bestimmen die Mitglieder der Jury sieben Künstler, die Ihre Werke bei einer Gruppen-Ausstellung und in einem zugehörigen Katalog, der beim Modern Art Museum erhältlich ist, präsentieren können. Thema dieses Jahr ist Zeitgenössische Kunst in Äthiopien. Künstler mit bis zu 35 Jahren durften sich dafür bis 11. März bewerben.

Die Ausstellung der Werke der sieben ausgewählten Künstler von Fana Wogi 2013 wird am 19. September eröffnet.


Die Gewinner des Wettbewerbs:

Firew kebede

Frew Kebede was born in 1985, in Addis Abeba Ethiopia. He graduated in 2006 from Addis Ababa university Alle school of fine arts and design specialized in Industrial Design. After graduation, he worked as an assistant lecturer at Unity university for two years. He studied piano course for one year in Mega School of Music in 2008 and became a studio artist in multidisciplinary fields.


Kirubel Melke

Kirubel Melke was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in April 12, 1983. In 2013 he graduated with BFA from Addis Ababa University, Alle School of fine arts and design in the department of painting. Currently, Kirubel is engaged with clothes that tell personal and social status. His work of art is contemporary in style and often abstract in design, emphasizing color, contrast and value relationships.


Meklit MershaMeklit Mersha was born in 1990. He graduated from Addis Ababa University in 2012 with a degree in Sociology. I knew I loved taking photographs about 6 years ago as soon as I got my very first cell phone with a built-in. After graduation, he has been working as a freelance photographer. As a sociologist and a photographer, he aspires to use photography as a tool for change by making the invisible visible.

Robel Temesgen

Artist Robel Temesgen, born in, 1987, in the town of Dessie, Ethiopia graduated from the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design in Painting with Great Distinction 2010. He is currently working in paintings and Video Art dealing with social issues. Robel Temesgen presented his Artworks in several group exhibitions in Ethiopia, USA, Germany, Zimbabwe, and United Kingdom. His Art studio is located at 41 Eyesus, near French Embassy, Addis Ababa.

Mulugeta Ayene

Mulugeta Ayene is an award winning photojournalist and a fine art photographer, he was born in Ethiopia and lives in Addis Ababa. He has recently been awarded a first prize in photojournalism by the Foreign Correspondent Association of Ethiopia (FCAE) in the Excellence of Journalism 2011 competition. His passion for photography is inspired by what he calls “the art of seeing.”

 

Yonas Hailu

Yonas Hailu was born in Ethiopia in 1986. He graduated in 2002 from Addis Ababa University School of Fine Arts specializing in Graphic Design. A passionate and diverse artist, his skills in painting, drawing and graphic art received early recognition when he won the 3rd International Youth Art Competition in Romania and a solo show at the Sheraton, and group shows at the African Union and the USA Embassy.

Yared Olevelli

Yared Olivelli was born in 1985. He graduated from the School of Fine Art and Design in Graphics art in 2010. From 2010 up to the present, he has been working as an instructor at the school of Fine Art and Designs at Addis Ababa University. Yared’s works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Addis Ababa and other countries.
