Migrants both into and out of Scotland continue to shape the nation. Working with contemporary artists and local communities, the exhibitions, planned as an on-going series, consider questions of Scottish identity, encompassing issues of place, belonging, exile and tradition.
Migration Stories: Pakistan, the inaugural exhibition for the recently refurbished gallery, explores Scotland’s links with Pakistan. A Scottish Family Portrait features prominent Scots of Pakistani heritage photographed by the German photographer Verena Jaekel.
Verena Jaekel, born 1980 in Bergisch Gladbach, attended the Lette-Verein Berlin, School of Photography, from 2001-2004. She now lives and works in the area of Cologne.
