In 1988 Cynthia Beatt and Tilda Swinton embarked on an adventure, cycling along the Berlin Wall on the West Berlin side. They wanted to document the places the Wall had cut through, but also tried to capture West Berlin’s introspection as well as glimpses of East Berlin on the other side of the Wall. The result of this journey was the film Cycling the Frame.

In the summer of 2009 they returned to re-trace the now ‘invisible frame’ – this time meandering between its two sides, weaving East and West together, looking for what has changed.

We invite you to find out what they discovered and to join us for the UK premiere of The Invisible Frame and its prequel Cycling the Frame.

Cynthia Beatt and Tilda Swinton will be present.

Produced with support from the Goethe-Institut London and the German Federal Foreign Office.
