Following the outstanding success of the 'Learn German with Songs' songbook and accompanying CD, the Goethe-Institut London has produced a second instalment, 'Learn more German with Songs' for children aged 5 – 11 years. The book and CD feature 14 songs with notated melody lines, guitar chords and lyrics. The songs provide a wealth of possibilities for use in German lessons for key stages 1 and 2. They were developed for German and music lessons and have been tried and tested at concerts in primary schools and at workshops for primary German teachers.

Learn more German with Songs - Songbook

Each song is accompanied by a motivational worksheet which can be used in a creative and playful way during German lessons, and provides specially tailored suggestions for teaching methods, e.g. role plays, dance activities, picture stories and school performances. Many of the worksheets can be used as flashcards in lessons, and many give ideas for games and arts-and-crafts activities. Furthermore, 'Learn more German with Songs' is based on the QCA schemes of work and makes references to the Framework for Languages. So, for example, topics like the months and seasons, birthdays, school belongings, the family, the weather, and country names are covered in the songs. What child would not want to have 'Hitzefrei!', do the 'Tier Tango' or dress up in a role play for 'Omas Geburtstag'? The songbook is just as suitable for native German speakers as it is for children all over the world who learn German at school. And even for parents and grandparents who would like to practise German in a playful way with their children and grandchildren, the 'Learn more German with Songs' book is a treasure trove of ideas.
