Libraries with a kick

Libraries with a kick – an exhibition for the World Cup

Please visit the African poster exhibition – online or in one of our Goethe-Institutes in sub-Saharan Africa.

Is there a relation between libraries and football? Do libraries, reading and access to information play a meaningful role during the Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa?

Children and adults from South Africa and other sub-Saharan countries explored this question in a creative way – with astonishing results!

The aim of the poster competition Libraries with a kick was to create a poster and a slogan that can be suitably used to promote libraries and their services in the context of the Football World Cup. Out of a total of more than 1000 entries, three national winners were chosen for each country. An exhibition was created of 14 winning posters from 10 countries. Public libraries in the participating countries received the national winner poster in order to use it for promotional purposes.

The poster exhibition will be presented 24 times in 12 countries and is also available online.
