|1914/2014 – The Battlefield of Memory
Initiated by the Goethe Institutes in South-East Europe. A project by Hans-Werner Kroesinger and Regine Dura in coproduction with the HAU Hebbel am Ufer and the Kunstfest Weimar. In cooperation with the Goethe Institutes in Belgrade, Istanbul and Sarajevo, the Heinrich Böll Foundation (Sarajevo), the Stiftung Mercator, the Centre for Cultural Decontamination (Belgrade), the Kinoteka Bosne i Hercegovine (Sarajevo), the Orient Institute Istanbul, the Tarih Vakfı Association of Historians (Istanbul) and the Tütün DEPO (Istanbul). The co-producer of the project in Sarajevo is the war theatre SARTR (Sarajevski Ratni Teatar).
The entire project is being supported by funds from the excellence initiative of the Goethe Institute. The production 1914/2014 - Schlachtfeld Erinnerung in the HAU Hebbel am Ufer and at the Kunstfest Weimar is being supported by funds from the Capital Cultural Fund.
War and Peace in the Balkans
War and Peace in the Balkans is a multimedia project by the Goethe-Institut. In addition to a documentary film, it also includes twelve short films, a travelling exhibition accompanied by an illustrated book and an educational programme for schoolchildren. It was produced by Anemon Productions. Prof. Christina Koulouri of Panteion University, Athens acted as scholarly advisor.
The contributions published on this website have also been included in most cases in the exhibition catalogue War & Peace in the Balkans, edited by Juliane Stegner on behalf of the Goethe-Institut. It was produced by Anemon Productions, Athens in 2014 (German/English); ISBN 978-960-9761-02-4.
Daring to Remember
Das Wagnis der Erinnerung ("Daring to Remember") was initiated in 2010 by the Goethe-Institut Athens, and it was a literature project at all Goethe Institutes in the entire region of Southeastern Europe (Athens, Ankara, Belgrade, Bucharest, Istanbul, Izmir, Nicosia, Sarajevo, Sofia, Thessaloniki and Zagreb). The contributions published here were also included in the issue of "die horen" entitled Das Wagnis der Erinnerung. Poetische Erkundungen aus den Ländern Südosteuropas (Daring to Remember. Poetic Investigations from the Countries of Southeastern Europe – in German–in German), edited by Wolfger Pöhlmann / Goethe-Institut Athens, Autumn 2010, published by Johann P. recorded memories / eingeschriebene Erinnerung is an exhibition by the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with the Museum für Photography Braunschweig. Curated by Constanze Wicke and 11 curators from Southeasteurope: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Republic Moldau, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus. A publication has been produced to accompany the exhibition Europe. Southeast – Recorded Memories, Editor Juliane Stegner / Goethe-Institut Athen, spring 2013.
