Mission statement

International Partnerships and Regional Networks

Being committed to free and open exchange of information, the Committee’s main goal is to contribute to the modernization and development of Greek libraries and information centers in their efforts to provide quality services to their users/clients.

Today libraries are facing increasing pressures, technological challenges and difficulties in securing ample funds. Problems and issues that some libraries are dealing with in a given country have already been resolved in libraries of other countries. Exchanges of ideas and experiences as well as cooperation are undoubtedly the keys to effective solutions of common problems.

The Committee for the Support of Libraries was founded in 2003 by representatives of Greek and international organizations to contribute to the development of libraries in Greece.

Being committed to free and open exchange of information, the Committee’s main goal is to contribute to the modernization and development of Greek libraries and information centers in their efforts to provide quality services to their users/clients.

With a program of professionals that derive from library and information science from several countries, the Committee organizes international conferences, workshops, panel discussions and lectures to present the latest developments in information technology and libraries.

The Committee’s goal to keep abreast with latest developments in library world and to attract professionals to support its activities is fulfilled with the publication of the online journal SYNERGASIA that presents current topics that interest information professionals.

Through continuous interaction and collaboration with the entire spectrum of libraries, educational organizations and other institutions, the efforts of the Committee focus on helping Greek libraries become learned information centers for the dissemination of information and the diffusion knowledge in their respective communities.
