'The Blue Bag'

The “BLUE BAG” is a small mobile library which visits schools all around Greece and offers children a chance to travel to other places and eras. It also offers the possibility of enjoyable reading at inaccessible districts, where there are no libraries, and at social studies rather isolated. What is special about the “BLUE BAG”, is that all the books, almost 100, relate to a particular subject which is presented to the children by a trained animator. The presentation is accompanied by posters, photos, music, various objects, and an activity for the children. At the end, the children borrow the books contained in the bag. Two weeks later, the “BLUE BAG” returns to their school with another subject and new books.

Each subject can be presented to different levels of primary and secondary school, as the accompanying material varies. Some of them are:

  • Ancient Greece
  • Africa
  • Wheat – bread
  • Birds
  • China

And for smaller children:

  • The pig that got bored of the wolf
  • The three feathers
