Baltic Sea Festival

Baltic Sea Festival

3rd September to 12th October 2009

The Baltic Sea Festival is a joint project by the Danish Cultural Institute, the Royal Danish Embassy, the Goethe Institute, the Polish Institute, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania, the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia, the Estonian Institute, the Finnagora and the Embassy of Sweden with the initiative of the Eunic Budapest.

The Baltic Sea Festival - a project focusing on a region along the Baltic Sea - connects countries historically and culturally interlinked. In the recent years the countries are reviving their cultural feeling of community: the Baltic Sea ties the countries together and they know that it is crucial for the environment of the countries to keep their common Baltic Sea clean. The Baltic Sea Festival demonstrates the cooperation between the EU countries around the sea, introduces shared features to the Hungarian public, presents a picture of „climate and culture” - a very relevant subject in all Baltic Sea countries. The Participating countries chose four different ways to forge closer ties with the public: film, jazz music, thriller and crime literature and green-design.

It is the first time that a project with so many Baltic partners and with such a varied programme has taken place in Hungary.
